Park Party!

DMVR's SCCA 2009 Party at the Park,
Summer Car Show and Picnic!

DMVR has just booked a SCCA Summer Party at the Park, and all members and their family are invited!

In place of our regular meeting at Noah's on the first Tuesday in June, we will instead meet on Saturday, June 13th where we are going to have a Party in the Park at the South Shelter of Des Moines Water Works.  This shelter is located close to Izaak Walton League, on George Flagg Parkway.  Great for the whole family, we will be having some activities (looking for ideas and volunteers), and we are asking everyone to bring their car or cars to show them all off!  Race Cars, Autocross Cars, Street Racers, bicycles (bicycle trail across the street), Bar Stool Racers, bring them all!

Date:  Saturday, June 13th, 2009

Time:  approx.1 PM. till the beer and fun runs out!  Poker Run may start around 1, then return around 2, when food and friends will be ready to eat.  Join us as we cruise around Water Works Park and Gray's Lake. Park closes at 10:00 PM

Directions:  From Park Ave, turn going north on George Flagg Parkway, go past Izaak Walton driveway, and take the next left.  Then take another immediate left, the shelter is on the left.  LEFT LEFT LEFT- how can you mess this up?    (all roads are paved)

Who is invited?  All DMVR members and their family!

Activities:  Poker Run, Cruise, and other outdoor games anyone can come up with and help put on. Prizes will be handed out as well!

FOOD?  Walker Farms (Doug Walker) and Cottman Transmissions will be cooking hamburgers and hot dogs; and chips, buns, plates, and eating utensils will be supplied as well.  All you have to do is bring a dish to share with others!  This can be veggies, cookies, cake, pie, other deserts, salads, or whatever you can think of that is EDIBLE!

Drinks?  We will supply the beer, pop, and water.  (Only beer and wine is allowed in the park, but I think they will allow us to drink water, too).

Bring a chair, some sun screen, sun glasses, a blanket, and have a great time with your family and friends!

The shelter has nice public restrooms right beside it, too.

Parking must be parallel to the roadway only.  More to follow as our party develops.
Ideas, donations for prizes, and volunteers?  Please let Racer Dan know by email at Dan73Vette@AOL.com, or call 979-8473.

Thanks!
