• Subtitled "Zen and the Art of Sports Car Racing" this site is an internet magazine for sports car racing enthusiasts produced by racing photographer Timothy Crete. Lots of great photos from Daytona, Sebring, ALMS, and vintage events. Well worth a visit.

• William "Pete" Snell was a popular amateur sports car racer who died in 1956 when his helmet failed to protect him. The Foundation named for him was founded in 1957 by a group of scientists, physicians, racing colleagues and friends who teamed together in a dedicated effort to promote research, education, testing and development of standards geared to improve the effectiveness of the  automotive racing helmet. Ever since then the Snell approval has been the most respected in motorsports and they continue to advance the state of the art in helmet protection and testing. This is a very informative site if you've ever wanted to explore the how and why of those funny hats we wear.

• Ever wonder why so many cars at the vintage races have those "The Last Open Road" decals on the trunk? Then you haven't read the books... B.S.(Burt) Levy is a racer, frequent magazine columnist, and self proclaimed "notorious ride mooch", as well as a fellow member of Age & Treachery Racing. He's also written some amazing books weaving fictional characters into a vivid historical look at the early days of sports car and road racing in the western hemisphere; "The Last Open Road", "Montezuma's Ferrari", and "The Fabulous Trashwagon", and with the fourth book in the series, "Toly's Ghost", he brought the story forward to the international scene during Phil Hill's championship season of 1961. Burt's latest is the first book in a new trilogy, "The 200 MPH Steamroller, Book One: Red Reign" with the usual suspects and some new characters against the backdrop of the Ferrari/Ford wars at Le Mans in the '60s.  While fictional, those who were there testify to how accurately Burt has captured the atmosphere surrounding the early days of real road racing at Watkins Glen, Elkhart Lake, and the Carrera PanAmericana, and the beginning of the SCCA. This site is the home of Burt's publishing company Think Fast Ink and has info on the books, Last Open Road merchandise, and even a story or two. • This one is more of a "dairysport" site, but I just had to add it.... 

FastStone.org 

• If you deal with digital images, and especially if you have a lot of them, these folks have a wonderful free utility I'd highly recommend you download - the FastStone Image Viewer. While it's a great viewer, it's also much more. It allows  you to make basic corrections and edits, quickly crop multiple images, and batch resize or rename large numbers of images at once. I have been using it for several years and become more and more impressed with each of their frequent updates of the product. I'd strongly advise you to try this great FREE utility.

• Did you know that several times each month you can walk outside and watch the International Space Station pass overhead? This helpful site from Germany will tell you when and where to look.

• The best place on the web to find out if you really should "forward this to everyone in your address book". They have hundreds of searchable articles debunking all the bogus messages floating about. You can also subscribe to their newsletter and often find out about these junk messages before your well intentioned friends forward them to you!

• An extremely interesting photo blog site from the Boston Globe. Superb image galleries from  leading photojournalists on a wide array of topics. Recent galleries of interest to those here include the Dakar Rally,  Singapore Grand Prix, Red Bull Air Races, and the Australian MotoGP.

• An excellent history and field guide to those familiar orange objects. Know your enemy!
