Event Definition
|
|
A.
|
All points events will
be autocrosses as defined in the SCCA Solo Rules.
|
|
B.
|
All points events
normally offer four (4) timed runs counting for position. If less than four timed
runs are to be granted, the number of official runs will be announced prior to
the second run. If more than four timed runs are to be counted the number of
official runs shall be announced prior to the fourth run of all heats.
|
|
C.
|
The Solo Rules Director has the authority
(subject to protest) to interpret the application of all regulation provisions.
|
II.
|
Officials
|
|
A.
|
Event Officials shall consist of an Event
Chairperson, a Co-Chairperson, a Chief of Safety,
Chief of Tech, Chief of Registration, Chief of Waivers, and Chief of Workers.
The Solo Directors shall appoint the Event Chairperson. The Event Chairperson
in consultation with the Solo Directors shall appoint the additional Event
Officials.

B.
|
Areas of Responsibility:
|
|
|
1.
|
The Chairperson, along with the Solo Directors and the Chief of Safety, shall have final responsibility for all aspects of the
event operation including course design. The Chairperson will not compete in
the event, but may make a demonstration run at the beginning of a heat if
desired.
|
|
|
2.
|
The Co-Chairperson shall assist the Chairperson
in all aspects of the event operation. The Co-Chairperson may choose whether to
compete or not. If they decide not to compete they may make a demonstration run
at the beginning of an alternate heat to the heat that includes the
Chairperson's demonstration run.
|
|
|
3.
|
The Chief of Safety shall be the Solo Safety
Steward of Record listed on the event sanction. The Chief of Safety shall
appoint Deputy Safety Stewards and Safety Workers as needed to ensure safe
operation of the event. If the Chief of Safety is also a competitor a licensed
Deputy Solo Safety Steward must be assigned during the time that the Chief of
Safety is competing.

|
4.
|
The Chief of Tech will have responsibility for
ensuring that all vehicles entered for the event meet safety standards as
specified in the SCCA Solo Rules by overseeing the technical inspection
process.
|
|
|
5.
|
The Chief of Registration shall be responsible
for all aspects of registering the participants, including verification of
driver's credentials and accepting and accounting for registration fees.
|
|
|
6.
|
The Chief of Waivers shall ensure that all
individuals entering the active event site have signed the SCCA waiver and been
issued a credential indicating such, and that any individuals under age 18 have
a properly executed Minor Release and Waiver.
|
|
|
7.
|
The Chief of Workers shall administer the
assignment of entrants as workers for the event. All other Event Chiefs shall
coordinate their need for additional workers with the Chief of Workers.
|
III.
|
Driver and Car Limits
|
|
A.
|
There will be no more than three drivers for
each car.
|
|
B.
|
No person will enter more than two cars. |
|
|
1.
|
These two cars may not be entered in the same class. |
|
|
2.
|
A driver can enter any given car in a class only once. |
|
|
3.
|
A given car can be entered by any one driver in only one class.
|
|
C.
|
Exceptions can be made to III A&B at the
discretion of the Solo Rules Director or Event Chairperson with the
understanding that the fourth, fifth, etc. persons entering a car or additional
cars are not competing for year end points or event trophies.
|
IV.
|
|
Order of Running
|
|
A. |
Vehicles will run in numeric order as registered
regardless of class. The entries will be divided into two or more heats to
facilitate worker assignments and exchange. The Event Chairpersons along with the
Chief of Registration will determine the number of heats, number of runs per
heat, and the division of the entries. The Order of Running may be altered
under the following circumstances:
|

|
Cars having mechanical problems making it impossible to run in numerical
order may, at the Event Chairperson or Solo Rules Director's discretion, be
allowed to run after the last car has completed its sequential run (1st
run, 2nd run, etc.)
|
|
|
2.
|
Any person wishing to run out of numeric order for any reason may,
at the discretion of the Event Chairperson or Solo Rules Director, be allowed to run out of order within the heat (1st runs, 2nd runs,
etc.). This will not be allowed if an advantage is to be gained by running out
of order. EXAMPLE :
Possibility of rain before the end of the event.
|
|
B.
|
All competitors are required to fully
carry out their duties as workers as assigned by the Chief of Workers. Workers
who do not fulfill their work assignments may either be precluded from taking
their subsequent runs or eliminated from the final results and points, or both,
at the discretion of the Chief of Workers in consultation with the Event
Chairperson.
|
V.
|
|
Protests
|
|
A.
|
The Solo Rules Director, Chief of Tech, and Solo
Events Director comprise
the Protest Committee.
|
|
B.
|
The protest fee is $25.00 and shall accompany
the protest. The fee will be refunded only if the protest is upheld.
|
|
C.
|
Entrants may only file protests against cars
entered in their class.
|
VI.
|
|
Penalties
|
|
A.
|
The pylon penalty is 2 seconds per pylon upset
or displaced outside the square marking the outer edge of the pylon base.
|
|
B.
|
Pylons before the start and after the finish
will count for penalty.
|
|
C.
|
If a driver observes a pylon out of place on
their first lap of a run, they should stop immediately and point out the error.
If the pylon is out of place they will be granted a rerun. If a pylon is not
replaced after being moved out of its marker on the entrant's previous lap, a
rerun will not be granted.
|
|
D.
|
Whenever the timer malfunctions or an obstacle
appears on course, the flagperson or course worker must stop the car on course
and grant the entrant a rerun after five (5) or more cars.
|
VII.
|
|
Event Awards
|
|
|
Trophies will be awarded within classes on the
following basis:
2-3 entrants - 1 trophy
4-5 entrants - 2 trophies
6-7 entrants - 3 trophies
8-9 entrants - 4 trophies
|
|
10-14 entrants - 5 trophies
15-19 entrants - 6 trophies
20-24 entrants - 7 trophies
25-29 entrants - 8 trophies
|
|
VIII.
|
|
Classes
|
|
A.
|
The Solo classes as defined in the SCCA Solo
Rules are in effect including the Ladies classes. Also Novice, Pro, Street
Tire, and Vintage Index classes will be provided as defined below.
|
|
|
1.
|
Novice Index: Entrants may run in the Novice class if
they have entered four or less Solo events. The RTP/PAX Index is used to adjust
times for position within Novice Index. Competitors will be assigned to their
vehicle's regular class for class points. |
|
|
2.
|
Pro Index: Open to all classes as defined in the
National Solo Rules. The RTP/PAX Index is used to adjust times for position and
point
computation. |
|
|
3.
|
Street Tire Index: Open to all classes as defined in
the National Solo Rules but limited to those cars competing on tires with a
treadwear index of 140 or more. The RTP/PAX Index is used to adjust times for
position and point computation. |
|
|
4.
|
Vintage Index: Pre 1980 vehicles eligible to compete
in Stock and Street Prepared and limited to those cars competing on tires with
a treadwear index of 140 or more. The
RTP/PAX Index is used to adjust times for position and point computation.
|
|
B.
|
Two entrants are required to make a class. If
the required number of people are not available to make a class, bumping will
be as per the Solo Rules, except Novice, Pro, and Street Tire which will be
bumped to the vehicle's open class. Vintage will bump first to Street Tire then
the vehicle's open class.
|
|
C.
|
Entrants running in a Ladies class
may elect to be bumped to the next higher Ladies class or the vehicle's open
class.
|
IX.
|
|
Annual Championships
|
|
A.
|
Two annual championships will be maintained for
DMVR members; a Class Championship and Soloist Of The
Year (SOTY).
|
|
B. |
Membership cards or proof of renewal must be
presented at each event to qualify for annual championship points.
|
|
C.
|
Class Championship
|
|
|

2.
|
At an event, a competitor may obtain points in
no more than two classes driving two different cars. |
|
|
3.
|
If a competitor is competing as an exception as
listed in III.C., their entry will be ignored in all
class computations. |
|
|
4.
|
The two poorest points finishes (not running is
counted as 0 points) are eliminated when computing total points for the year. |
|
|
5.
|
A member must compete at least four (4) times
during the year in a class to be eligible for year-end class awards. |
|
|
6.
|
The Event Chairperson and non competing Co-Chair
receive first place class points for their event in each class in which they
qualify for a year-end class award. If the Co-Chair chooses to compete they
will receive normal class points. |
|
|
7.
|
Year-end awards will be distributed to all
qualified members based on the number of eligible competitors in each class and
distributed according to Supplemental Regulation VII.
|
|
D.
|
Soloist Of The Year (SOTY)
|
|
|
1.
|
SOTY points will be awarded to all DMVR Solo
participants for all Solo events DMVR sanctions, The DMVR-NR Challenge whether
sanctioned by DMVR or NR, plus all Iowa Challenge
events whether sanctioned by DMVR or not. |
|
|
2.
|
When computing points only the first vehicle
driven by a member will be used. |
|
|
3.
|
The Solo Events Director and Solo Rules Director
are not eligible for SOTY. |
|
|
4.
|
SOTY points will be awarded as follows:
1*
|
Bringing a competitor to an
event who has never entered an autocross. When the first time autocrosser registers for the
event, the guest’s sponsor must be noted on the entry form by the registrar.
More than one sponsor is allowed if appropriate. |
5*
|
The first time autocrosser for
which 1 point was earned as noted above subsequently joins DMVR before the end
of November. All sponsors will receive 5 points.
|

|
Entering an autocross as a
competitor. This points award will be given only once per event. |
3
|
Acting as one of the designated
Chiefs of an event. |
3
|
A non-competitor working an
autocross a significant amount. This award will be determined by the Event
Chairpersons and should be arranged before the start of the event. The
Chairpersons are responsible for notifying the Solo Rules Director at the
earliest opportunity. |

|
Locating an autocross site that
has not been available previously. The points will be awarded when the site is
used by DMVR. |

Chairing or co-chairing an
event. If the Co-Chair chooses to compete they shall receive 5 SOTY points. |
|
|
No more than 10 points may be earned per event
with the exception of those marked with an ‘*’ which are in addition to normal
event awards.
|
X.
|
|
Mufflers
|
|
A.
|
Adequate mufflers are required. Adequacy is not
what constitutes the exhaust system but the sound level.
|
|
B.
|
Any vehicle deemed excessively loud by the Solo
Rules Director, Chief of Tech, and Event Chairpersons
shall not compete without acceptable modifications.
